A well yield test is a timed test to determine how many gallons of water per minute a well system can produce. A well yield test will identify problems with the well pump and pressure tank, look at the replenishment/ determine of a well is running dry or lacks sufficient recuperation, determine the reserve amount sitting in the well, provide an idea as to whether a homebuyer would need to stretch the time between running water for showers, laundry, dishwashers, car washing, etc. Two types of tests are offered.
Modified, 1-Hour Yield Test – This is a shorter, less accurate stress test. It is typically all that is needed for newer, drilled wells. The test provides a high-level review of the overall performance of the well and pumping system. The short test may not represent the true statistic of the well.
3-Hour Yield Test – This more accurate test provides sufficient time to run through the reserve of the well and to provide an idea of replenishment rate.
